What's On in Newcastle
Friday 06 November 2026 · This weekend · City guide
Newcastle is absolutely pulling out all the stops this Friday, with a city-wide explosion of live music stretching from classic rock spectacles to late-night electronic odysseys. Whether you want to be home by eleven with a warm glow from a brilliant comedy show, or you want to dance until the early hours in a basement that smells of dry ice and ambition, this is your night. Pull on your jacket, pick your adventure, and get out there.
Highlights

The Australian Pink Floyd — Few tribute acts anywhere in the world come close to the sheer scale and spectacle of The Australian Pink Floyd, and seeing them at the grand O2 City Hall is the closest most of us will ever get to a real Floyd show. Expect faithful recreations of those cavernous soundscapes, laser shows, and a room full of people quietly losing their minds in the best possible way. Doors at 6:30pm — check the website for ticket prices.

Susan Calman: Tall Tales — The brilliant Susan Calman brings her latest show to the gorgeous Tyne Theatre at 7:30pm, and if you have not seen her live before, prepare to laugh until your sides genuinely hurt. Sharp, warm, and wickedly funny, Calman has a gift for turning the everyday into comedy gold, and the Tyne Theatre's ornate Victorian surroundings make the whole evening feel like a proper night out. Check the website for tickets — and do not leave it too late.

The Skids / Theatre Of Hate — Two genuinely iconic post-punk acts on one bill at the Boiler Shop — this is the kind of lineup that makes seasoned gig-goers do a double-take. The Skids brought us Into the Valley back in 1979 and have never really stopped burning, while Theatre Of Hate's Kirk Brandon remains one of the most compelling frontmen of his generation. Doors at 7:00pm in one of Newcastle's most atmospheric industrial venues — check the website for tickets.

Scotch and Rye - Live @ Billy's — For something a little more low-key and wonderfully unpretentious, Billy Bootleggers is the place to be from 6:30pm as Scotch and Rye take the stage for what promises to be a proper Friday-night-kick-starter of a gig. Tickets are just £0–£2, making this one of the best-value live music decisions you can make all week, in a venue that has the kind of lived-in character that bigger rooms can only dream of.

KHAOTIC x CONTAINMENT presents: TOZA & more — When the night is ready to shift up a gear, World HQ opens its doors at 10:00pm for a collaborative showcase from KHAOTIC and CONTAINMENT, with TOZA headlining alongside a supporting cast of talent that promises serious dancefloor heat. World HQ has long been the heartbeat of Newcastle's underground club scene, and this one has the energy of a night people will be talking about come Saturday morning. Tickets are £15–£20.

Northern Frequency Presents: Jamie Fielding 3HR Extended Set — For the truly dedicated, Digital Newcastle hosts what could be the most immersive electronic music experience of the month from 11:00pm, as Jamie Fielding takes the decks for a full three-hour extended set under the Northern Frequency banner. This is the kind of booking that rewards commitment — a long, deep, evolving journey through sound in one of the best club spaces in the north of England. Tickets are £26–£50, and every penny is justified.
