What's On in Birmingham
Sunday 08 November 2026 · This weekend · City guide
Birmingham has no intention of letting the November chill slow it down — this Sunday the city is absolutely alive with possibility, from chocolate-scented family adventures in the morning to late-night live music spilling out of Digbeth and Kings Heath. Whether you are herding excited kids through an aquarium, settling into Symphony Hall for a world-class tribute show, or hunting down your new favourite band in a basement venue for the price of a pint, there is a version of this Sunday that was made for you.
Highlights

Cadbury World - Standard Entry — There are few Sunday morning pilgrimages quite as joyful as the one to Cadbury World, and this is the perfect autumnal excuse to make it. The whole family can lose themselves in the story of chocolate, from ancient Aztec origins to the Bournville factory floor, all wrapped in that impossibly tempting cocoa scent. Doors open at 10:00am — check the website for pricing and availability before you go.

Michael Starring Ben — Symphony Hall is one of the finest concert venues in the country, and this afternoon and evening it plays host to Michael Starring Ben — a tribute to the King of Pop that has been turning heads on the touring circuit. Whether you catch the 2:30pm matinee or the 7:30pm evening show, expect production values that genuinely honour the scale and spectacle of a Michael Jackson performance, in an acoustically breathtaking room. Check the website for ticket availability.

Shabaka — Shabaka Hutchings is one of the most important and genuinely thrilling voices in contemporary jazz — a musician whose work has redefined what the saxophone can say in the 21st century. Seeing him at The Castle and Falcon is an intimate, precious thing; this is not an arena show, and that closeness makes every note land differently. Doors open at 7:00pm, with tickets priced at £20–£28.

The Autumn Store w/ Waves Crashing, Healees, Falling & Laughing — The Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath has a long and proud tradition of championing independent music, and this Sunday bill feels exactly like the kind of evening that people will be name-dropping in a few years. Four acts across the night means there is real breadth here — the kind of Sunday show where you arrive not knowing any of the bands and leave with a new favourite. It kicks off at 6:00pm and tickets start at just £3, rising to £11.

Rough Works — Rough Works at The Glee Club is the essential Birmingham comedy night for those who like their laughs raw, spontaneous, and a little unpredictable — comics road-testing new material means you get to be part of something genuinely in-progress, and occasionally witness brilliance being born in real time. Starting at 6:15pm on a Sunday evening, it is the ideal way to shake off the weekend before the working week arrives. Tickets are £8.

MNEK — A songwriter, producer, and performer of rare craft, MNEK has written some of the most recognisable pop moments of the past decade — and seeing him perform his own work live at XOYO Birmingham is a completely different, deeply rewarding experience. Expect warmth, incredible vocals, and a room full of people who know every word. Showtime is 7:00pm — check the website for ticket details.
