Bonfire Night falls on a Thursday this year, and Liverpool is making absolutely sure nobody goes home disappointed — whether you want sparks in the sky, sparks on a stage, or sparks flying between comedians and a rowdy crowd. From tearful alt-rock intimacy to free-wheeling comedy and classic 60s nostalgia in the most legendary basement in the world, the city has stacked this particular Thursday with something for every kind of curious soul.

Highlights

Family Firework Night — Kick off Bonfire Night the proper way with a full-on fireworks spectacular at The Lingmell Inn, starting at 5:00pm — early enough for little ones to be dazzled without turning into pumpkins. Tickets run from £7 to £29 depending on your setup, making it an accessible and genuinely magical way to mark the fifth of November with the whole family in tow. Wrap up warm, grab something hot to drink, and let the sky do the talking.

Editors: Stripped Back Performance — If you have ever wondered what Editors sound like when you strip away everything except the raw emotion and Tom Smith's extraordinary voice, tonight at Jacaranda Baltic is your rare and intimate answer. This 7:30pm show follows on from an earlier matinee performance, and at £15–£29 it feels like a steal for a band of this calibre in such a beautifully considered space. Expect hushed rooms, goosebumps, and the kind of concert you will be talking about for years.

Livvy Roberts Presents: The Big Fat QuizBox — Boxpark Liverpool transforms into a gloriously chaotic quiz battleground at 6:00pm as Livvy Roberts brings her Big Fat QuizBox to town — part comedy night, part competitive nonsense, entirely good fun. Tickets start from nothing, so even the most spontaneous of Thursday-nighters can wander in and join the mayhem. Come with a team, come alone, come ready to argue passionately about a question you absolutely should have got right.

3 Minutes Of Fame — Hot Water Comedy Club at Blackstock Market hosts one of Liverpool's most brilliantly unpredictable formats at 7:00pm — three minutes on stage, a room full of strangers, and anything could happen. Tickets are just £5 at most, making this one of the best-value evenings in the city whether you are watching rising stars find their feet or seasoned regulars road-testing new material. It is chaotic, warm, and occasionally astonishing in the best possible way.

Pure Reason Revolution — The O2 Academy Liverpool rolls out the welcome mat at 7:00pm for Pure Reason Revolution, the cult progressive rock outfit whose layered soundscapes and soaring harmonies have earned them a fiercely devoted following. At £13–£25 this is serious live music at a very fair price, and on Bonfire Night the drama feels entirely appropriate. If you like your rock thoughtful, textured, and genuinely ambitious, do not let this one slip past you.

Gary Murphy's 'I LIKE IT' - The Ultimate Tribute to the 60s — There is only one city in the world where a night celebrating the golden age of 1960s pop music feels truly, deeply right — and you are standing in it. The Cavern Club plays host at 7:30pm to Gary Murphy's glorious tribute show, a joyful romp through the decade that changed everything, in the very room where so much of that revolution began. Check the website for tickets, grab a spot near the front, and let the music take you somewhere wonderful.
