What's On in Bristol
Tuesday 15 September 2026 · This weekend · City guide
Bristol has a serious case of September electricity today — freshers are flooding the city with wide-eyed energy, rock and roll legends are rolling into town, and the comedy heavyweights are packing out the big stages. Whether you are chasing a late-night dance floor, a seat in a storied theatre, or something quietly moving and human in a cosy fringe space, Tuesday the 15th has got you completely covered.
Highlights
Flamin' Groovies | The Trinity Centre — These San Francisco proto-punk legends have been making thrillingly scruffy, Stones-inflected rock and roll since the late 1960s, and catching them live is the kind of thing you tell people about for years. The Trinity Centre — a converted Victorian church with extraordinary acoustics and a genuinely special atmosphere — is an almost perfect setting for a band this gloriously out of time. Doors open at 7:00pm and tickets are £28; treat yourself.
Kevin Bridges: Here If You Need Me | Bristol Hippodrome — The Glaswegian comedian who can make a room of two thousand people feel like they are all listening to a mate in a pub is back on the road, and Bristol Hippodrome — one of the most beloved big venues in the South West — is the ideal stage for his warmly observed, razor-sharp storytelling. This is an 8:00pm show that will leave your face aching from laughing. Check the website for tickets before they are gone.
We All Came by Boat - Clare Murphy | The Wardrobe Theatre Bristol — For something altogether more intimate and thought-provoking, the Wardrobe Theatre is hosting Clare Murphy's solo performance exploring stories of migration, belonging, and the journeys people make across water. At just £5 for a 7:30pm show in one of Bristol's most characterful fringe venues, this is the kind of quiet, powerful evening that sneaks up on you and stays with you long after the lights come up.
Simon Brodkin: Unleashed | Bristol Beacon — The man behind some of British comedy's most audacious pranks — and a genuinely brilliant stand-up in his own right — brings his Unleashed tour to the spectacular Bristol Beacon at 7:30pm. Whether you know him from his television work or his legendary real-world stunts, expect a show that is anarchic, fearless, and frequently side-splitting. Check the website for ticket availability.
UWE Bristol Official Freshers | Bingo Lingo | The Students Union At UWE — Bingo Lingo is not your grandparents' bingo — it is a riotous, rave-infused takeover where calling the numbers is just the warm-up act for the chaos that follows, and it has become one of the most beloved freshers events in the country. Kicking off at 6:00pm at the UWE Students Union, this is the perfect early-evening icebreaker for anyone just arriving in the city, with tickets at a very friendly £10 to £12.
F*CK ME It's Freshers - Bristol | Lakota — When the night is still young at 11:00pm and you need somewhere that absolutely does not mess around, Lakota — Bristol's legendary multi-room club with a pedigree stretching back decades — opens its doors for one of freshers week's most unapologetically hedonistic nights. With tickets from just £7 to £14, this is the city telling a new generation of students exactly what kind of town they have moved to.
