What's On in Sheffield

Tim Burton's Universe by Mystery Ensemble — Victoria Hall gets draped in gothic glamour as Mystery Ensemble conjure the eerily beautiful film scores of Tim Burton — think Danny Elfman's swooping strings and darkly whimsical melodies brought to life on stage. It is the kind of evening that feels like stepping inside a snow globe designed by a very stylish ghost, and at £22–£37 it is an absolute treat for film lovers and classical fans alike. Doors at 7:00pm — dress up or dress down, but do go.

Trainspotting The Musical — Sheffield City Hall's Oval Hall transforms into something altogether rawer and more electric for this stage adaptation of the iconic Irvine Welsh story, kicking off at 7:30pm. Expect full-throttle energy, a thumping soundtrack, and performances that will pin you to your seat — this is theatre that grabs you by the collar. Check the website for tickets and consider arriving early for the Arches Bar Experience if you want the full immersive treatment.

Halloween Bingo — At £16 a ticket, Halloween Bingo at The OEC from 7:00pm is the kind of brilliantly daft night out that ends with your sides aching and a new set of friends. Bingo gets a full seasonal makeover here — expect spooky themed rounds, raucous hosts, and the very real possibility of winning something ridiculous while wearing a witch hat. Bring a group, buy a round, and surrender completely.

Aesthetic Perfection — Corporation is the perfect home for Aesthetic Perfection, whose industrial electro-rock sound was practically built for a venue with this much attitude. Doors open at 7:00pm and the night promises to be a sweaty, euphoric collision of synths, heavy beats, and a crowd who absolutely know every word. Check the website for pricing — but if you love your music dark and danceable, this one is not optional.

Planet Zogg Halloween Ball — Yellow Arch Studios has long been one of Sheffield's most beloved and characterful venues, and for Halloween it becomes the home of Planet Zogg — a full-on fancy dress ball that leans into the weird, the wonderful, and the wonderfully weird. Kicking off at 10:00pm with tickets from £10–£25, this is the night for those who take their costumes as seriously as their dancing. Expect eclectic sounds, a gloriously committed crowd, and memories that outlast the hangover.

DRYAD X WUB CLUB: 2 Day Halloween Rave Sheffield! — If you want to feel bass frequencies in your actual bones, Dryad Works from 10:00pm is exactly where you need to be — this two-day Halloween rave collaboration between Dryad and Wub Club is the kind of event that Sheffield's underground music scene does better than almost anywhere. Tickets are a genuinely brilliant £8–£18, which for the quality of sound system and atmosphere on offer is essentially a gift. Come in costume, come ready to move, and do not make any plans for Saturday morning.
