What's On in Manchester

J. Cole: The Fall-Off Tour — One of hip-hop's most cerebral, technically gifted artists brings his long-awaited The Fall-Off Tour to Co-op Live at 6:30pm, and the atmosphere inside that arena is going to be something close to religious. J. Cole shows are renowned for their intensity and the almost telepathic connection he builds with a crowd that knows every syllable — expect an evening of sharp lyricism, massive production, and the kind of goosebump moments you'll be talking about for years. Check the website for tickets and remaining availability.

Felabration ft. Dele Sosimi: Rhythm of Africa Vol 2 — Band on the Wall pulls off something genuinely joyful with this second instalment of Rhythm of Africa, a Felabration night celebrating the legacy of Fela Kuti headlined by Dele Sosimi — a man who actually played keyboards in Fela's Egypt 80 band, so this is as close to the source as it gets. Expect sprawling, hypnotic Afrobeat grooves, a warmly packed room, and dancing that starts before you've even found your seat. Doors at 7:30pm, tickets are £22.

The Music Circle Presents: Live @ Freight Island — At just £3, this early-evening session at the magnificent Freight Island is arguably the best-value ticket in Manchester today — an industrial-chic setting that transforms any live performance into something cinematic. The Music Circle has built a reputation for championing emerging talent in genuinely thrilling spaces, so arrive from 5:00pm, grab a drink from one of the food and drink traders, and let the music find you.

One Pound Comedy: Thursday | Creatures Comedy Club — A pound. One single pound, handed over at the door of Creatures Comedy Club at 7:00pm, in exchange for a proper night of stand-up comedy. This is Manchester's most cheerfully democratic comedy offer, and whether the acts are fresh-faced newcomers or seasoned circuit regulars, the room's energy always makes it feel like a bargain many times over. Perfect if you want to warm up before a later show, or just want a brilliant Thursday night out without raiding the wallet.

Nathan Fake — The White Hotel at 7:30pm is the ideal setting for Nathan Fake, a producer whose atmospheric, emotionally charged electronic music practically demands a serious sound system and a room of people willing to surrender to it. A veteran of the Border Community label and one of electronic music's most distinctive voices, Fake is an artist who rewards proper attention — this is not background music, this is the whole foreground. Tickets are £17, and this one feels like a room you'll wish you'd been in.

Women In Music Showcase - Presented by Outer City — Off The Square hosts this vital and celebratory showcase from Outer City at 7:00pm, shining a spotlight on women artists across what promises to be an eclectic, exciting programme. At £5–£8 it is an exceptionally accessible way to discover new talent while supporting a platform that is genuinely doing important work in making the music industry feel more like it belongs to everyone. Go in with open ears and you might just leave with a new favourite artist.
