What's On in Edinburgh
Saturday 01 August 2026 · This weekend · City guide
Edinburgh roars into August with a day that has absolutely no business being this packed with good stuff. From the thunder of diesel engines at dawn to the pulse of late-night club beats, the city is serving up something for every kind of curious soul. Clear your Saturday — you are going to need it.
Highlights

Truckfest Scotland 2026 — The Royal Highland Centre gets gloriously loud from 9:00am as Truckfest rolls back into Scotland with its cavalcade of chrome-plated, jaw-dropping trucks from across the country. Whether you are a die-hard haulage enthusiast or simply a parent who knows their child will absolutely lose their mind at the sight of a 40-tonne articulated lorry up close, this is a brilliant way to kick off the day. At £18 it is remarkable value for the sheer spectacle on offer.

An Evening With Chicane — Brace yourself for a wave of pure, euphoric nostalgia as trance legend Chicane takes over the Edinburgh Corn Exchange at 4:00pm. The man behind Saltwater and Offshore — two tracks that define what it felt like to be alive in the late nineties — promises an evening that will have the hairs on your arms standing at full attention. Tickets are £24–£32 and this one will sell out, so do not sit on it.

Kula Shaker — La Belle Angele is one of Edinburgh's most atmospheric and beloved live music venues, and at 7:00pm it plays host to Kula Shaker, whose swirling, psychedelic Britpop still sounds like nothing else on earth. Crispian Mills and the band have been at this for three decades and lose none of their intensity or mysticism live — expect a room full of devoted fans and a set that feels almost ceremonial. Check the website for ticket availability.

Comedy Elvis: Kevin Isaac — Head out to the wonderfully characterful Dalkeith Miners Club at 7:00pm for what promises to be one of the more delightfully unpredictable evenings in the Edinburgh area this weekend. Kevin Isaac brings his Comedy Elvis act to the stage — a concept that sounds like it should not work and almost certainly works brilliantly — in a venue that has a warm, community-hall charm all of its own. At just £10, it is the best-value laugh you will find on a Saturday night.

The Comedy Lock-In — The Beehive Inn hosts its Comedy Lock-In from 8:15pm, and if the name alone does not sell you then consider this: a proper pub setting, a pint in hand, and a lineup of comedians doing what comedians do best in front of an audience that is already in a good mood. At £10–£15 it sits comfortably in the affordable-night-out bracket, and the Grassmarket location means the rest of the evening is entirely at your disposal afterwards.

Off Campus Club (Edinburgh) — La Belle Angele transforms once more at 11:00pm as Off Campus Club takes the reins for a late-night session that will carry the most dedicated night owls deep into Sunday morning. This is Edinburgh's club scene doing what it does with infectious confidence — proper music, a crowd that came to dance, and a venue with the sound system to match. Entry is £8–£10, which for a night of this quality is practically a gift.
