Bristol doesn't do quiet Sundays — it does extraordinary ones. From daytime dance floors packed with toddlers in Halloween costumes to late-night soul sessions and everything in between, the first day of November 2026 is a full, joyful sprawl of live music, theatre craft, and nightlife that refuses to apologise for starting early or finishing late. Wrap up, get out, and let the city take you somewhere unexpected.

Highlights

WORKSHOP| Moving and Making: Intro to Lecoq with BRILLIG Theatre — If you have ever wanted to understand how theatre really lives in the body, this is the morning to show up for. BRILLIG Theatre guide you through the fundamentals of Jacques Lecoq's physical performance technique at the intimate Wardrobe Theatre, starting at 10:00am — a rare chance to get hands-on with one of the most influential movement methods in contemporary performance. At £100 it is an investment, but for anyone serious about theatre-making, it is the kind of workshop that genuinely changes how you see the stage.

Raver Tots Halloween Party Bristol — Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like — a proper rave, in the afternoon, with your kids, and everyone in costume. Lakota's Nest room fills with bubbles, confetti, and banging music from 1:00pm, creating one of those gloriously chaotic memories that children talk about for years. Tickets are £15–£19, fancy dress is essentially mandatory, and adults are absolutely welcome to lose themselves on the dance floor right alongside the tiny ones.

Pure Reason Revolution — Catch the cult progressive rock heroes Pure Reason Revolution aboard the Thekla — Bristol's legendary floating venue moored on the Avon — from 6:00pm. The band's layered, atmospheric sound was made for a space like this, where the low hum of the river and the close quarters of the boat create an almost cinematic intimacy. With tickets from just £6, this is one of the best-value live music propositions in the city tonight.

Von Hertzen Brothers (Acoustic Enough) — The Finnish rock trio Von Hertzen Brothers strip things back — or mostly back — for their Acoustic Enough show at the beautiful Trinity Arts Centre at 7:30pm. Their melodic, harmonically rich songs take on a warmth and vulnerability in this format that the full electric show simply cannot offer, and Trinity's converted church space provides the perfect atmosphere to let it all wash over you. At £29 inside one of Bristol's most beloved independent venues, this is an evening that will linger long after the last note fades.

Northern Soul Sundays — There are few better ways to end a Sunday than surrendering to the spin and stomp of Northern Soul, and The Crown Tavern's weekly session from 7:00pm is the kind of gathering that feels like a genuine community rather than just a night out. Expect rare 45s, a floor full of people who actually know how to move, and a warmth that only this particular music seems to generate. Check the website for entry details, but these nights have a habit of being exactly what you needed.

After Hours with Streets Of Soul — When the rest of the city is winding down, Mr Wolfs cranks up from 9:00pm with Streets Of Soul delivering the kind of deep, groove-heavy sounds that make a Sunday night feel subversive and celebratory all at once. This is Bristol's after-hours culture doing what it does best — finding the warmth in the small hours and keeping it burning. Check the website for entry, and maybe reconsider that early night you had planned.
