Birmingham is pulling out all the stops this Friday, with a lineup that spans psychedelic rock, jazz-laced soul, goth tributes, Taylor Swift singalongs, and club nights that run until the city finally calls it a night. Whether you're easing into the weekend with a candlelit cocktail or diving headfirst into a sold-out Leftfield DJ set, there is a version of this evening with your name on it. The only real problem is choosing where to start.

Highlights

All Them Witches - House of Mirrors Tour — Nashville's most hypnotic psych-rock outfit roll into the O2 Institute Birmingham at 7:00pm on their House of Mirrors Tour, and if you've ever wanted to lose yourself in a wall of fuzz and slow-burning riffs, this is your Friday sorted. The O2 Institute is a venue with genuine atmosphere — big enough to feel like an event, intimate enough to feel like a secret. Check the website for tickets before they disappear.

Homegrown - MYA-REMI — Sophy Digbeth's Homegrown series has a brilliant knack for platforming artists right on the cusp of something, and MYA-REMI is exactly the kind of name you'll want to have seen before everyone else catches on. Kicking off at 6:30pm for just £9–£11, it's one of the best-value live music tickets in the city tonight — warm, unhurried, and full of discovery.

Angels of Darkness - A Tribute To The World of Goth — The Castle and Falcon in Balsall Heath is the perfect gothic parish for this celebration of all things dark and atmospheric, starting at 7:30pm and priced at £15. From the brooding grandeur of post-punk to the velvet theatrics of classic goth, this is a night that takes the genre seriously while making sure everyone in black has the time of their life. Whether you're a lifelong devotee or just goth-curious, come dressed accordingly.

Neighbourhd Presents: NBHD Open Jam x Tomorrow Warriors — The Night Owl hosts one of Birmingham's most joyful and unpredictable live music formats from 8:30pm, as the NBHD Open Jam joins forces with Tomorrow Warriors — a collective with serious jazz and improvisation pedigree — for a night where anything can happen. Entry is £0–£6, making it an absolute steal for the quality on offer, and the late start means it slots in beautifully after dinner or a first drink elsewhere.

Swiftogeddon - The Taylor Themed Club Night - Birmingham (Early Show) — Don't even pretend you don't know every word to at least six Taylor Swift songs — Swiftogeddon is the club night that gives you full permission to sing them all at the top of your lungs. Asylum Bar and Venue hosts this early show from 7:00pm, making it ideal for a big group night out that kicks off at a civilised hour. Check the website for tickets and consider this your sign to dig out your sequins.

Leftfield (DJ Set) *SOLD OUT* — Yes, it's sold out — but if you managed to grab tickets for Leftfield's DJ set at Hare and Hounds Kings Heath, then your Friday night is already the envy of everyone reading this. From 9:00pm at £18–£21, this is a genuine landmark moment for the venue: one of electronic music's most influential names, in one of Birmingham's most beloved independent spaces. Treasure it.
